4 Things to Consider When Buying an Air Conditioner

When you plan to buy an air conditioner, sometimes you just do not know where to start. Here are the things to help you get started!

Choosing the perfect air conditioner can be such a hassle if you do not understand what things you must take into consideration. Here are some basic points to get you started in selecting the most suitable air conditioner for your room.

  1. Capacity

The bigger the room, the bigger capacity of an air conditioner is needed. You can measure the perfect AC for your room by paying attention to its BTU. BTU measures the amount of heat an AC can remove. You just need to multiply the area (length and width) of your room by 10 and add 4,000 to select the ideal BTU that allows your air conditioner to cool your room.

  2. Energy efficiency

There are two terms that indicates the energy efficiency of an AC. The first is called energy star rating and the second is Energy-efficiency ratio (EER).

When you are looking for an AC, you can find its Energy Rating Label on the catalogue. The Stars on the Energy Rating Label indicates energy efficiency of an AC on a scale of 1 to 5. Having a 5-Star rating suggests that Mitsubishi Electric’s air conditioners save energy, cost, and environment.

On the other hand, EER helps you to understand the efficiency of an air conditioner by measuring the ratio of cooling output divided by power consumption. Higher EER proves higher efficiency.

  3. Moisture removal

Living in Indonesia, we are used with the high level of humidity. However, the humidity in one place is different from the other. You need an AC that can removes just the right amount of humidity from the room. To have some advice, ask our air conditioner technician to suggest the right AC based on the climate, moisture sources, and cooling loads of your location.

  4. Noise control

You don’t want to stay awake all night because the AC in your room is whirring. Pick one with a low noise level, preferably within 50 decibels (dB). Even better, if the AC has a sleep mode. You will enjoy a good night’s sleep, and so will your neighbors.
